Description of Conference: The New London County Fire Chiefs Association was established in 1932, for the purpose of providing mutual aid to neighboring towns and adjacent counties. Times were tough in 1932; as they are now and the need of being able to call on neighboring fire departments and emergency medical services made life a lot easier for the fire departments and EMS. Seventy-seven years later the need still exists and we still rely on mutual aid. We have gotten more sophisticated over the years with our modern equipment and training techniques, but there will always be a need for mutual aid. The Association continues to grow and we offer a wide cadre of support to member departments in time of need. We coordinate both the CERRIT Haz-Mat Team and the CT Incident Management Team 4. The Association sponsors 2 monetary awards for students in the Fire Technology & Administration program at Three Rivers Community College. The Connecticut Firefighters Association has selected NLCFCA to host their one hundred twenty-seventh annual convention and parade in September 2010. - President Doug Evans
