Description of Conference: Chinese government's latest policies on seed industry, "Suggestions for Accelerating Development of Modern Crop Seed Industry"("Suggestion") released on April 18, 2011, has for the first time clearly shown that China is taking seed industry to be of strategic and fundamental importance to the nation. The release of the "Suggestion" will bring about more changes and reform to China's seed industry.
It is reported that Beijing will issue another two seed policies, named "Development Plan of Modern Crop Seed Industry" and "Regulation to Production and Management License of Modern Crop Seed Industry", to boost the development of seed industry. With strong governmental support, China's seed industry will enter a new development stage.
