Description of Conference: Over the past two decades, most Eastern Mediterranean countries have placed emphasis on improving the quality of health care for their citizens. Family medicine is now recognized as a specialty in its own right and as the cornerstone for developing a community based health care system. Training family physicians is now more important than ever.
The need for better outpatient training, for professional development opportunities after graduation and for establishing research activity in family medicine are the catalysts for establishing the World Organization (WONCA) EMR organization and subsequently the launch of the First Family Medicine Conference and Exhibition of the World Organization of Family Doctors East Mediterranean Region (WONCA EMR.)
