Description of Conference: India’s elderly population is growing rapidly. By 2020, it is estimated to double to 177 million, and continue to increase to 240 million by 2050. With 60% of Indian families being nuclear, the senior citizens are unable to depend on the traditional family support system. The need for retirement living facilities is highlighted due to the absence of any family members to take care of the elderly, creating strong domestic demand.
