Description of Conference: LGA Annual Finance Conference
This year's annual finance conference will look at the 2009-10 finance settlement, analysing any changes to the settlement as well as considering it in the context of the changing economic and fiscal circumstances the country is experiencing.
The conference will also focus on the LGA's work on the next spending review, outlining the strategy and plans for the review and providing an update on the emerging themes and evidence to be put forward to the review.
The afternoon session will address the theme of "budget setting and managing expectations" and will offer a range of practical perspectives on ways of working with key partners and taxpayers in order to make informed budget decisions. This will include the prospects for budget setting in the coming years and how councils can better engage and inform local residents about the work of councils and what they get for their money.
