Description of Conference: The Performer's Voice aims to stimulate discussion, develop ideas, and disseminate research on music performance from the perspective of the professional performer. Though interdisciplinary in scope the symposium’s uncompromising emphasis on the act of performance and the role of the performer gives it a distinct focus. Proposals for individual or panel presentations with verbal and live/recorded performance elements (length 20-60 mins, depending on number of participants), lecture-recitals (50 mins), open rehearsals (50 mins), workshops (50 mins) and posters compatible with one or more symposium theme/s are invited. Given the symposium's themes, presentations that draw on personal, reflective experience-based insights into performance are as encouraged as those shaped from more traditional approaches to research. Collaborations are warmly encouraged.
