Description of Conference: From 2 – 5 December of 2009, the Law and Literature Association of Australia and the Law and Society Association of Australia and New Zealand will co–sponsor, under the auspices of the Socio–Legal Research Centre, Griffith University, Trans(l)egalité, a joint Conference dedicated to the theme of “trans”: transgender, translation, transaction, transnational, etc....— as well as the overarching themes of transformation (2 – 3 December, LLAA) and transcendence (4 – 5 December, LSAANZ).
Keynote speakers include queer theorist Judith Halberstam (University of Southern California), social–literary critic Tim Campbell (Cornell University) and novelist Alexis Wright (University of Western Sydney).
