Description of Conference: Radiation oncologists, radiation oncology nurses, medical physicists, radiation therapists, dosimetrists and biologists comprise ASTROu2019s more than 10,000 members , making it the largest radiation oncology organization of its kind. These medical professionals, found at hospitals and cancer treatment centers around the globe, make up the radiation therapy treatment teams that are critical in the fight against cancer. These teams, which often include a nutritionist and a social worker, treat more than 1 million cancer patients each year.
It is my privilege to invite you to the 51st Annual Meeting of the American Society for
Radiation Oncology. This year we will be in the great city of Chicago, at the new
McCormick Place Convention Center, which was specifi cally designed for medical
meetings. ASTRO’s Annual Meeting is by far the largest scientifi c meeting for radiation
oncology, and it off ers a broad and diverse collection of of paper sessions, review
courses, poster sessions and keynote addresses, dedicated to sharing and distributing
the latest and most advanced research from investigators from all over the world.
