Description of Conference: As the Ministry of Justice continues its wide ranging consultation; ‘Legal aid: funding reforms’, this seminar will address the question of future funding priorities for the legal aid system. Timed as the system passes it’s 60th anniversary, panel sessions will examine the proposals set out in the consultation paper, including the harmonisation of defence and prosecution fees and the introduction of Best Value Tendering. Discussions will focus on what reform is necessary to guarantee access to aid whilst ensuring the system remains financially sustainable for the future.

We are delighted that Lord Bach, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Ministry of Justice and Des Hudson, Chief Executive, The Law Society and Carolyn Regan, Chief Executive, Legal Services Commission have agreed to deliver keynote addresses at this seminar.
