University students are studying technology in huge numbers because it provides the greatest opportunity for employment upon graduation. Older generations are also joining the fray through lifelong learning programs. Learning ICT is truly a necessity.
But now that we have passed the initial phases of a culture of learning ICT, it is time to set more ambitious goals. At Cairo ICT 2009, we will discuss the baseline numbers of people with ICT knowledge and how we can greatly expand these numbers. We will talk about real targets for a truly ICT ready society and how we will reach these goals. The undeniable importance of technology proves that no part of society remains untouched by ICT, and no one should be left out of the metamorphosis in the world created by ICT.
